Yeah! you can easily found variety of talented and experienced developers! on DP! easily WP and Bloggers! work for almost same purpose but the big difference between both platforms is that Wordpress is self hosted and purely open source in fact blogger is pre-hosted by Google
Okay - but I don't want to hire anybody essentially for the fact that I may need to tweak things several times or maybe start another website soon. I can work according and can work around with little bit of coding and stuff - so what;s the verdict ?? should I try to get WP installed on my system ?
Wordpress all the way IMHO. There are loads of free themes if you're concerned about the design. There is a widget for anything you can dream of. Install it and play around. It's very easy.
okay - I am gonna install it NOW. Let's see how it goes. Hope I can count upon you guys if I hit a wall
Guys, thanks to your encouragement, I did manage to set up WP in a matter of mins (excluding the time it took to FTP stuff to the server). I have the WP installed in the / > public_html folder with the WP folder name being "Wordpress" . Now if my site is XXX.com (just an example), I am able to access the "first blog" that's automatically created by WP by using the http://XXX.com/wordpress/ URL, but if I type the URL : XXX.com , I get the page : where I can access teh site by clicking on the link "Wordpress" . Could you ppl please guide me about what to do ?
You can either forward the domain to automatically redirect to wordpress within your hosting control panel, or you could just re-install wordpress into the WWW/public_html folder so that it loads from within XXX.com The easiest advice would be just to create a basic index.html file within the WWW/public_html which redirects to the /wordpress/ directory. A little advice for the future, if you have web hosting on a cPanel server (where cPanel is your hosting control panel), simply select Fantastico from within the control panel, which is a one-click installer for LOADS of scripts, like Wordpress. This makes installing many server-side software such as forums, CMS's and blogs very very easy, as you don't have to upload them and the server installs them for you - magically! Good luck with your learning
if your hosting has one click installer like SOFTACOLOUS , you can install it by one click easily. Or if not, you can easily download it from wordpress, and upload it and unzip it, and connect it with database by editing config.php.
Blogger is the best. You can take control of blogger if you have certain scripts. eg: digithelp.blogspot.com
Definitely wp.org is better. Lots of great plug-ins for SEO - like SEO All-In-One pack. And we really can't be certain, but rumor has it that google can spider it more easily, even though they own blogger...lolol
