Better way to monetize site?

I have website which is based on funny pictures and having about 500 visitors a day, sometimes even more.

I have placed only adsense ads in it, but earnings are very low. Average earnings are less than 1$ in one day.

What other advertisements can I place in my site? Some affiliate programs? Any services that are offering constant earnings for placing a banner? Other suggestions?

Checked the site out it was hilarious. It looks like you may be getting a large amount of photographers to your site, what I would recommend is finding either a website selling cameras or mabye get a couple of books from amazon to sale about photography and you could also sale some joke books. Every book you sale you get a commision from amazon.com. These may be ways to monetize the traffic.

 

If you want to get visitor's add it to stumble upon they will give your a huge amount off traffic and then you can see your earnings go up

 

What does the sponsored picture means? Do you mean selling banner space? Who would buy it?

I'm already receiving a lot of traffic from social bookmarking sites including stumbleupon, but the problem is very low earnings

 

Selling banner ads stinks unless you get the volume of bigger portals like college humor, ebaums and others. I've only made money on linkstink.com with Adsense.

 

500 viz/day are not enouf to think at serious earnings ...

500 is not going to cut it. Not even close.

 

Not going to retire with 500 visitors., I'm up to nearly 2,000 a day and it's still tough.
I've seen great days and bad days. Best advice is to keep experimenting. Don't just resort to Google. There's NUMEROUS affiliate programs that offer valuable publishing options...

The problem is that neither the adsense ads can give you much in terms of earnings due to the low paying nature of the keywords. You must concentrate on adding picture ads and not text ads. Choose image only ads and see how it turns out
