Better to: post an article on your website's forum or post it on Digg/hubpage/squidoo

I am struggling with the concept of exclusive content. Is it better to write content and articles and post them on your website's forum/blog or to post articles on article submission site?

You get backlinks by posting on digg or squidoo, but it seems that if you post on their site you are improving their site. Wouldn't it be better to post all the great content on your own site?

I supposed you could publish the full content article on your own site and write knocked down versions on digg and squidoo just to get the backlinks. However, the time spent writing 3 or 4 variations of the same article could be spent on writing 2 great articles on your site.

teoretically, it's best to place unique articles all over the internet! if you use THE SAME article you posted on your site.... on squidoo, for example. that article's purpose will be the link juice! if the user sees the same article on 2 different sites (2nd being yours) he'll leave.

so yes. write original shiz, put it on your site, use the same article to get links to your main article and hopefully you will rank on googlezzzz. then write some more articles and do the same. :-(

now here's a secret: POST CONTENT PEOPLE WOULD WANT TO LINK TO
omg, that was supposed to be a secret. :(

Is article submission helpful in getting traffic, or just for building backlinks.

Write good articles and post them on EZA - point the link back to your site. Sometimes, EZA article may rank higher than your site.

I would agree with your method... post the full article on your webpage and then water down versions for the other things.

If you want backlinks also, short versions are fine with digg etc. and full version should be on your site.

Why to post duplicate content on your site? Some article sites check for the duplicacy before publishing them. As more important is your own site, and if you want article marketing, then this approach is better. A summary of article in different words in around 250-300 words for the article site and a full explained article in different words on your site. People will follow the backlink from article site and it will also make your site authoritative.
