Better to have pre sell landing page, or review of landing page?

Is it better for click through rates to send targeted traffic to a page that reviews the clickbank product, talks about the clickbank product, or has information about the product in sort of a pre landing page landing page? I am wondering if it is better to hide as much information as possible about the product so you make the customer really curious so he clicks on through. If I make too much of a nice landing page in the beginning I am worried I am doing maybe the selling that the clickbank page is supposed to, in which case the customer might leave before getting there.

Any ideas? What in your experience works best?

I prefer to send my targeted to a squeeze page offering a freebie complement to the product that I am promoting, then follow them up with the email.

My opinion is, regardless what kind of landing page you use, the thing is "complement" and I found Jimmy D Brown has the best explanation of it, you give out "useful but not enough content". In simple term, some markerters like to offer "what" information for free but when it comes to the exact "how", this is where the paid information or your product comes in.

For example, you are promoting a weight loss product. Your landing page can be a squeeze page with an interview you do with the product owner. People subscribe to get that interview, and at the end of the interview you do the selling by pushing that product. Or, your landing page can be a review that you do after you apply some of the technqiues from the product, like you loss how many weight after you buy the product and people will want to know how you do that by clicking on your affiliate link.

The key thing is giving "useful but not enough" content. Useful as you give value so your traffic wont think that you are hiding too much or selling them. Not enough so that they will want to click your link to find out more.

    Hope this help. :)

I had much better expirience with presell pages with success stories. Right now I am trying to scale up in a huge market with big potential and even from media buying traffic I convert at 1% of visitors which in my opinion is very good, from articles I can reach 2.5% and in other market I have a conversions of 3% steady (over 150 slaes). I suggest you to go with a presell LP, works much better for me at least...

I prefer presell pages. This would make your relationship with your customer long term. You can sell more to him. and it would be beneficial for both parties.

I always prefer to do a review page instead of a pre sell page. Because I feel that when you do a review page the person thats reading it doesnt really feel like they are getting sold to even though you really are selling them. I've found that a review page works better at least for me, people just dont like to be sold to, its just the way people are. But you should test it, maybe create a few pre sell landing pages and a few review pages and test them with Adwords till you can get enough data to make a decision.
