First of all I will say that I am fairly new to internet marketing (a few months now). Anyway, there is one website that I am working hard on promoting. The other day I noticed that it happened to gain some PR, and although it is only a PR 1 I thought that would help improve its rankings since it did have a PR 0. Does it take time for higher PR to help improve its rankings, or does PR not really have much effect on search engine rankings? Although the change was little, I thought maybe it would help some. Any ideas?
Some time ago my site had a pr 0. I begin to set backlinks on it and eventually it goes to the first page of search results. After 2 months google begin to give pr. I got pr4 (yeah I am also shocked) but in search results I fall to 4 page. Pr does not really influence your ranking I think.
Your pr and your rankings in the serps are completely unrelated. If you would like to improve your placement in the serps you should focus on your on-screen optimization and building high quality backlinks using your targeted keywords in the anchor text.
Ok, thanks for the input. After getting lots of backlinks my rankings improved, but after gaining PR it didn't change much. I will just worry about adding good content and getting more backlinks.
There is no relation between pr and ranking. pr does not effect your targeted keyword ranking. So focus on your other seo activities.
I tend to agree that PR does not equal ranking (you need to be thinking about relevancy) But to further answer your question - PR ranks (however valid they are) are updated much more frequently than the public figures from the toolbar. So when your toolbar PR changes - your actual PR may have changed days or even months before (hence there will be no necessary correlation in your ranking) Dylan
