Hi I see a lot of new websites using the beta identifier, are there legal implications of using that on a new web project? Does it have any bearing on whether use of a trademark is counted? Thanks
Perhaps I'd have to see an example, but I believe that in most cases, 'Beta' means that the website design/functionality is not the final version. It is the 'pre-release' version which is live to the public, but not all of the bugs are worked out yet. I hope this helps! -Moe Green
I'm no lawyer, but as far as I understand it, you can register a trademark at any stage. Even if you don't register it, if you are 'suing it' commercially in a trademark sense, a court should take that under consideration when deciding rights.
To my knowledge, it is exactly as contentboss said. "Beta" is just a term used to say "Hey! This is a testing stage of our product!"
Zero. It's just a way for the web site owner to say "Guys... don't think our website sucks if you see a few errors... tell us because we're still testing."
