Contest start date: January 13, 2008. I am getting ready to run a posting contest that can make you $1 richer every day in exchange for 5 minutes of your knowledgeable involvement. All it takes is 1 great post a day to qualify for the end of day draw. This contest is designed to gradually increase forum activity. You HAVE to be knowledgeable on the subject of web hosting to participate. What do you need to know? - Confidentiality is key. If you contact me - this constitutes a confidentiality agreement by default. - The subject of the board is web hosting. - Limited to members that are new to the forum only. - You have to be fluent in English language (that means correct spelling, grammar, punctuation). Additional rules will apply. Increase your chances of winning - make more than 1 post. However, keep in mind that QUALITY holds priority, so if you make 10 "rushed" posts and someone else makes 1 meaningful post with a great sense of contribution and helpfulness, that 1-post member will win. How does it work? I have a system in which I will know all the member usernames that will be participating. At the end of each day I will screen through all the posts by those members and choose 1 high-quality post that stands out by being helpful and meaningful to the community. Whether it is a helpful reply to an existing thread or a new interesting discussion started by you - all holds an equal chance! There is no limit to number of words per post, but the shorter the post, the less chance you have of winning. Brief couple-of-liners are useless, unless you miraculously manage to solve another member’s problem/issue with such response. How to apply? 1. PM me with your: (A) contact email address, (B) your PayPal address, and (C) a Username that you will register with on the forum. It HAS to be different from your DigitalPoint username. NOTE: I will not confirm the receipt, but make a record of it. 2. By the start of the contest date you will receive an email with forum URL and Contest Policy. Keep it confidential. 3. If you were picked the winner on a particular day, I will personally notify you by PM or Email and arrange the winning payment by PayPal - automatically. Winners' DigitalPoint usernames will be posted in this thread daily for tracking purposes. Possibility If I notice that your contributions are of high quality day after day, a long-term paid posting position might be offered with high payout rates ($0.25 per post), in addition to contest participation. The pre-registration for the contest is still open. So far I received very low response, not sure why - whether the daily prize is low or people just too lazy to read through contest regulations.
I think it is because there are to many " ifs " It is a good idea but the daily prize is too low, so if you hypothetically get 100 posters in one day I would have a 1 in 100 chance of winning $1. Then there is the possibility that this would turn into a full time thing, again no guarantee. Finally you wrap up by saying that this whole contest idea is beta meaning really you can change the rules at anytime and choose not to pay us.
eruct, I appreciate your feedback, but I assure you I am not here to cheat anyone. If the contest is to be cancelled, I would notify everyone, but while its running what is the purpose of not paying? Keep in mind that I need great contributions just as someone would like to win $1-2 daily for a couple of good posts. Second, I really doubt I will attract 100 posters. Ideally, I would prefer to work with no more than 25 to be honest. And in such case, the daily prize will increase to guarantee at least minimap paid posting rate. For example, I will add $1 to daily prize with every 10 new participants, so if i have 25 posters participating, the daily prize will be $2.5/post. Regarding longer-term position, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for paid posters and the rates I pay are high: min rate is $0.20/post. If you are interested in just paid posting, contact me and we'll set it up, but in that case you won't be eligible for contest. UPDATE: So far we have 2 pre-registered members. We need at least 6-8 members to make this contest worthy.
