So I made an offer on a domain($100) and then the owner sent me his offer and I chose a number in between and as soon as I clicked the submit offer button I realized it was a couple hundred dollars too much. Current offer is $400 and it has been 6 days and no one has bid higher and looks like I have to pay for it as I am contractually bound to pay for it if not they will cancel my account and I might get sued. I really don't see myself paying for it. But I might change my mind to save my myself if it is worth it. the domain is (iranforum.com) ... should I abort or go ahead?
Did you buy it to hold and resell or to develop? If it will earn $100 in Adsense & affiliate revenue it will earn $400.
Made a mistake with bidding too much.. I think you can turn around and make that money up if you design a site around it and monetize it.. Good have long term benefits.
how about giving me a hundred dollars today so I can sell my domains at sedo for thousands and I can give you 3x what you lost in that buy? seriously, I think it isn't worth it, i'm sorry pal. we all make mistakes so don't be guilty too much. desilator is right you can build a website to monetize it. But it would take time before you get your money back.
if u have plans for the domain then buy it because it is worth it, if you dont have plans for the domain dont buy it. I dont think anyone will sue you to be honest, however send sedo a message that you have made a mistake and tell them that you are unable to pay for it if you are not going to buy it. As the other said, if you are going to make something out of it then go ahead buy it.
Turns out this domain might have been worth it. Last I checked the auction it was 1 hour left and no bids then I checked it just now and the winning bid was $410 by someone else. I figure it must get plenty of traffic since irandefence.net and iranmilitary.net get lots of visitors and so must this domain. Oh well the results are at least better than if no one had bid on it at all.
