Best Web Hosting?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this - I'm glad to move it to another if someone can suggest a better one. I'm looking for an affordable hosting service that's quick and has an easy interface for a relative newbie. It's been a long time since I've hosted my own site (been using a friend's servers) and I'm completely out of the know on this field. Any unpaid suggestions? I'm sure there are some big opinions out there :)

Sorry - quick follow-up on that - any recommendations on domain registration sites? I've just been using GoDaddy, but I hate their checkout process (I know that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's irritating). Also, it seems like they charge 2x what the domain costs for private registration... anyway - any tips would be appreciated. :)

What is your range that you’re willing to spend? What are you looking for space and bandwidth wise. There is a lot of good web hosting companies out there. I use hostgator for the last couple months and have been pretty happy with them.

I don't expect I'll need too much bandwidth. I'm a big wordpress fan - I know some hosting services support one-click installs, which would be really nice for me.

Hostgator has a pretty easy install for wordpress, that's the host I would recommend.

I have to second hostgator. Prices are good and I have always had good support. They use fantastico for a bunch of one click installs- Wordpress included.

Agree with HostGator for a host and that Fantastico scripts are the easiest way to do Wordpress installs. Fantastico has a lot more scripts too (50 i think). If you feel like checking out more hosts, check out hostmonster and hostican too. But HostGator is great. Best of luck!

I've been with Siteground for over a year now and am very happy with them. Especially with their customer support because whenever I had any questions or problems they responded very quickly (15 min) and sorted things out.

If you are looking for reliable host with 24x7x365 friendly technical support then you should try www.webhosting.uk.com Shared Hosting for just £19.99/year with cPanel-Fantastico, unlimited domain-addon domains etc.....

I am using their service and their service is good tillnow.

Well here's my word of advice if you want reliable hosting do not buy some life time account. As shown around the web hosting ad's / requests forum it's nothing but trouble.

As for the best host? There really isn't one you're really looking for one that meets your needs and price requirements. By the sounds of it you're probably looking at a host who offers cPanel as well as Fantastico (it does wordpress installs for you)
