Sublime Text - text-editor with syntax highlighting, and plugins for almost anything you would ever need. You would also need (or at least you should have) a MAMP-setup (MacOSX, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
I'm quite liking sublime but not sure if it's US$70 better than NetBeans, it's certainly fast. Do you put up with the nag screen or have you paid?
I put up with the nag screen. I disabled the nag screen on an earlier version, but the procedure doesn't work on the later versions. If I was using this professionally, I would pay, but since I'm not currently coding for a living I haven't bothered.
