Hello - I sell used textbooks and similar items on Ebay.

Now I am trying to move to using my own website.

On my new website, in essence, I need to be able to:

1 display images of books along with other item information (i.e., display retail listings)
2 update prices on a daily basis (for upwards of 10,000 listings) via a file upload of some sort
3 feed my items to major search engines, and
4 allow customers to search for my items (once they are on my website) by either Title, Description, or ISBN number.

I tried a vendor called "Vendio" out recently, and they automatically feed my books to Google Products. The site is working fine and getting sales, but the problem currently is that their template for the site looks cheap, and the search functionality (i.e., when a customer tries to search for books on my site) is very limited.

Does anyone know of what my best option is, in terms of working with a web designer to build a new site (or perhaps to simply improve the Vendio site)? Are there any proven names that could get me good results (i.e., best bang for my buck).

Thanks for any suggestions! Deeply appreciated.

FYI, I live in the Nashville TN area.

I am new to the marketplace of web design and search engine optimization, so just looking for some much needed direction.

I haven't used Vendio, but on their website they have a "Designer's Corner" that has the documentation for modifying the look of their software. If you are happy with Vendio for everything but their stock design, it looks like you could just hire a designer to work on it.

There are definitely other options for eCommerce but, if you have something you like and the only problem is you want a redesign, just hiring someone to change the look of your Vendio store is probably a good way to go. As far as designers go, my programming knowledge is somewhat limited, but from what I saw it wouldn't take anyone with a special skill-set to start modifying the design for you. Just send any prospective candidates to The Designer's Corner so they can give you an assessment of their ability to get it done for you.
