Best Ways to prevent Clickfraud? Guru advice needed please!

I have recently finished building a site that is my third active site but not my main one.
It is also the first site I have the opportunity to use adsense on and hopefully have a chance to make some decent income eventually..(from adverts as opposed to products)

My question, although I am still grilling the adsense TOS, I want to hear from experienced adsense webmasters about what they consider to be the best methods to prevent click fraud :)

I am aware that LOTS of adsense site owners do not protect their site/income enough and leave themselves open to click fraud....

Whether it is a competitor trying to knock them out of Google, or if they are stupid enough to click their own adverts

If you could please list your preferred method(s) and software that you use to ensure a fraud free adsense experience I would be most grateful and this thread will hopefully serve some use to others who are new to the adsense program...

These are the only two tools I currently know of:

Adlogger - This great piece of open source software has sadly been discontinued due to rampant changes in the Adsense code by Google that they could not account accurately for or work with

Clickaider - I have only heard about this tool because the adlogger site recommends it but I cannot see information that it prevents clickfraud...

I am not an expert, but I thing the best way to protect your sites from clickfraud is to closely monitor the adsense account and the server logs and report anything unusual to Google. The best protection is to be proactive.

most clickfraud is due to people clicking on their own ad (what are they thinking?), i know you are not gonna do that so you have nothing to worry about

other thing is being targated of clickbombing. but that only can happen if you are insanely popular and have a very crooked minded competitor or if you REALY pi** off someone online who seeks revange. if we all be polite and be sensitive to each other, then we are all happy camper

What you said is making perfect sense to me :) I can only add that one should never give his/her sites' addresses to friends and family as those often trying to "help" by clicking the ads - this frequently leads to a ban. Finally, NEVER, NEVER tell your girlfriend, boyfriend about your sites as you never know what would happen when you break up with him/her.

The internet is not as nice a place as you would like it to be though unfortunately ;)

I realise it is 'unlikely' but I prefer to 'be prepared' than to rely on the niceness and trustworthyness of the anonymous keystrokes and distant thoughts that is the internet :D

I would really like to use this trust based protection method but for the purpose of this thread it would be good to hear some suggestions from people who have successfully implemented an adsense security plan....

or if not, why not
