Follow these steps: 1) Submit articles to Digg.com (New content only, no duplicates) 2) Post messages in other forums and blogs with your site's URL in your signature 3) Update site content as often as possible 4) Viral-Market on social networks such as Myspace & Facebook 5) Spread word of mouth advertising to as many Pet communities as you can 6) Have all your friends, colleagues and co-workers help you repeat steps 1 through 5
All the free opinions are great they just take time. However, if you are looking for quicker results I would try Adwords.
I'd start working on targeting keywords that will lead to sales for your site. Research these keywords, then start doing some article marketing, using these keywords in the titles and content of the articles, with links at the end back to your site (ezinearticles). If you do not write well, pay $5 per article or less at textbroker.com. Then start searching for link partners, or dofollow blogs and make comments using these keywords with the URL being your site, or specific pages on your site. It takes time, but results will come shortly after, if your keywords are not too highly competitive. Good luck.

Some good points here, all relevant stuff for ranking your site naturally on SERPS, paying for some traffic and generating viral awareness - as much as some of this stuff sounds boring and avoidable, much of it's gotta be done to make the traffic start to trickle in! Best wishes.
