    Those 2 things are tools, not tactics. I would say your activity is more important than the tools. Just pick a couple tools that you want to use, then interact with new people everyday on twitter/facebook/forums to drive traffic back to your tools. Your goal is retention.

    Recently I came across another awesome idea. If you have any demo product, ebook, recipies, music or whatever you could go with social payments. There is services called estago http://www.estago.com were for free you can make a social payment button. People trying to download your product must post on Facebook or Google+ wall or tweet about your page in exchange.

    Very easy to setup and for me the result so far is really astonishing... It goes totally viral...
