Hi, looking for peoples feedback, on how they think its best to write keyword tag

for instance, if i was doing a keyword tag for a business who did, garage conversions, and they did work in edinburgh, glasgow, stirling

what would be the best way to do it

so if they typed garage conversions + town into google, it would pick them all up?

The <meta name="keywords"> element is ignored by 99% of search engines because of its abuse by blackhat SEOs and spammers in the past. Google has stated publically on many occasions that they ignore it. I would not waste 1 minute of my time worrying about how to optimize it.

I would go with something like:

    and call it a day.

make sure not to use a ton of keywords in the tag(more than 5-10) as many search engines will penalize you for it.

Yes, its better if you include important keywords in your page contents instead of meta tags.

Meta tags these days are useless anyway, focus on your page's content instead.
