Best way to word an email for a link exchange

Im new to link exchanging, so any proffesionals out there please help me and let me know the best way to word an e-mail for a potential link exchange.

first thing to do is to put their link before sending the email. make it simple and short.

something like that just add some spice on it.

I find that when people send me link requests, I want them to be straight to the point. Talking about how great my site is just makes me think they just want something and Im less inclined to exchange with them.

Tell them you linked to their site and you would like for them to link back. Then provide link instructions. Keep It Simple.

oh gawd...i think i sent out 20 link exchange requests WITHOUT linking to them first.
