The best way to get more out of your RAM is to buy more. RAM is dirt cheap atm. You can get 4 GB DDR3 ram for only $20. and a comp with 16GB of RAM should last you a good time :)

Also don't run any programs you don't need to be running. If you run Windows, look in your tray and close anything there that you don't need.

It depends entirely what you're trying to do. I have 12GB and rarely use more than 50% of that, even with heavy image editing. Even 8GB is overkill for most. Unless you're encoding large videos or producing multi-track recordings... well that's a different story.

Yeah it's DDR3 RAM. I started out with 4GB and was planning to build a Minecraft server, so I bought 8GB on eBay - high quality stuff, not cheap generic RAM, but then decided not to build the server, and just have both in my main PC.

    I have these 2 kits:

    Patriot G-Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-10666 (DDR3 1333MHz) 7-7-7-20 [PGS34G1333LLKA]

    Muskin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-12800 (DDR3 1600MHz) 10-10-10-27 [996969]

Defragment your PC whenever you get time. It helps Windows find files faster and speeds file loading time.

where as i think that you must extend the memory of your RAM . so that your system could perform nicely.
You must look up DDR3 1600.Its is best in market.

Turn off unnecessary services running on your PC since they eat up RAM. Try to consider adding more RAM as well.

    Install Linux.

It doesn't need anti-spyware and anti-virus software running.

Keep Windows on a separate partition if you need IE for checking a web site.
