I have a brand new idea for a niche. Now the problem is, I can't make up my mind as to what URL (domain) to use. So I have two of them - one of them has the right keywords, the other sounds hip. For example, say we have ebaytradingmentor. com and ebayhunting. com (not the real urls but you get the idea). Now do I 1) point both domains to the same website, so that all pages have two URLs, 2) 301 redirect one domain to the other? or 3) Use only one domain and discard the other? Another option is that since the site of mine will have a forum - I could use one domain name for the forum, and another for the site itself - is this recommended? Since I can't compete with myself its gonna be only one site - but I LOVE both domain names equally - how the hell do I decide? It would be awesome if I could use both domain names - but how do I do that best? I am still in the planning stage so no, the site is not yet off the ground.
i'm in the same situation man.. i'm stuck just like you.. lol.. i was going to run them separately as blogs and share 1 database..but thats duplicating alot of info. so i dunno...
I only use 1 domain name for a site. I have not had great luck doing what you described. A few years ago I set up two domain names for one site and for whatever reason only one was index by Google. I do not think you are going to double the number of pages that are going to be indexed. Google may even ban the site....not sure. Good Luck
So it has to be one domain name then - do I go for the more memorable one or the rich-in-keywords one?
If you are going to really develop the site you might not need a keywords rich url as your content should do that, having said that, url keywords never hurt.
