I’m trying to target various 3 word phrases, for example Big Brown widget1 Big Brown widget2 Big Brown widget3 I’ve created a site wide on a 5000 page PR5 site with the anchor text “Big Brown†which now uselessly ranks #2 on MSN out of 84 Million results (so it looks like sitewide links are liked by MSN) but I am really after internal pages to be ranked for different 3 word phrases. Any ideas on different strategies to achieve this, the site is new so I’m getting the majority of traffic from MSN at this stage but every page is indexed in Google so once it ages I would expect that to change.
I think adding anchors to different kws under footer will be a good idea. Otherwise, linking from sidebar with same kws. But if you have too many categories that will be a mess. Better willl be to find competetive terms in uk search and putting anchors in footer/sidebar. btw, after checking some Big Brown KWs, I think some competetive ones will need seperate external links. my 2c.
I'm targeting hundreds and hopefully thousands of pages, I'll probably add footer links to the most popular, actually I could just have a most popular pages box on each page. I do have some IBLs to the more competitive phrases but can't practically do that for every page. Thanks for your suggestions.
It's about structure. try something like this: 1st level directory targeting Big Brown 2nd level directory targeting Big Brown widget1 List of all the subcategories (inclusing widget) at first level. then start deep linking from other sites to 2nd level directory.
