Best Way to send mass email?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Brinked, Jan 1, 2007.

I have been running a pretty popular site for the last 6 years and have developed an extremely large email list of subscribers. There roughly 250,000 email addresses and I would like to send out an email to all of them to notify them of my recent site upgrade. I have never done emails like this and I just want to know what would be the best way to email all these people without my ISP accusing me of spamming. I have optimum online and I believe they block port 25, so would I need to subscribe for an external SMTP server? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Email your ISP and ask them about it. 250K eamil addresses seem a lot to me

Other solution is purchasing an email-only hosting service allowing you to send as many emails as you want, do a search engine research for email hosting providers.

I second using Aweber to manage and grow the list. Even if you have to start from scratch, Aweber is top knotch. I've used them for over a year now with great success.

You need to find an email server that allows for this kind of thing. No matter what you do, sending out this volume of emails will eventually flag as spam. I'd recommend setting up a cron job and only sending a certain amount per day to avoid spam issues.

    Hey friend,

I have developed a mass email sender script and it is for free, you can download it for free and if you need support on it you will have to only share this link on social networking site. Have a look @

Best way of sending mass email is signing up to an autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse, if you already have a mailing list, they will have to re-subscribe (and unfortunately most will not)

There are a number of paid tools being used for this purpose but i guess free tools won't allow you for maximum number of receivers. Do consult web in case you are willing to spend money to buy tools ...

The best autoresponder is definitely aweber. Its worth checking out, especially when you have that many email addresses.
