I'm going to do a 301 redirect, but am trying to figure out the best option. I do all of my link submissions as www.domainname.com. But google pulls up way more results when I type in domainname.com. Should I:

    1. Redirect www.domainname.com to domainname.com

    or

    2. Redirecto domainname.com to www.domainname.com

    or

    3. It doesn't matter- both end up giving the same result for SEO purposes.

    Thanks!

I say option 2, but I guess in reality it wont matter as long asyou do something.

Remember, you can set your preference for www vs non www in google webmaster tools.

I think that you should do the 301 to the domain structure that has the most links pointing to it. I prefer including the www but most of the links that I have pointing to my site are to http://www.savantcreative.com My only other advice is do it sooner rather than later.

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
