Best way to redirect, htaccess ?

    Well, soon i'm going to change the CMS my site is using and I want to manually redirect around 1000 of my pages to a new place.

    Would manually inputting the urls into .htaccess be a good idea and also would it have a negative effect on my server if I do so ?

    I'm not sure how it all works, so I could use some help :)
