    Hey,

I am working on re-development of a corporate website. The current site is a static setup but fair amount of work as been done on the SEO front. I would be redeveloping it using a CMS like WordPress or Joomla.

I would like to know what precautions / care should be taken while coding / planning the website so that the current ranking of the keywords does not fall.. Also if a user lands on a page which does not exist he should be redirected or suggested of the new page...

Any comments / suggestions are welcomed!!!!

I have never had to redevelop a site but I would change as little of the content as possible. Keep the URLs active to the pages, and just re code the backend so none of your SEO work will be affected.

I suggest you use Wordpress as your platform. It's very SEO friendly and you can change the permalinks to match your content from your original.
