Funny, never got that much traffic from blog directories and I added my blog to bunch of them. I just don’t bother whit that anymore.

Add lots of good quality keyword rich contents. this will get you good rankings for sure as my blog does: :)

Also I would highly recommend to go for Technorati Tags.

Don't use blog directories rather use tags, and technorati.

If it's a tech blog, Have something worth saying and Digg it. Technorati tagging is very wise, as well as having interesting titles for your posts.

I agree with that. Titles are one of the most important aspects of a post if not the most important. Small and catchy titles that capture the attention of readers. Small posts, I usually think it’s also a good idea, get to the point and quickly.

    http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=1060

I think that there are a few things that keep me coming back to a blog. First would be daily or near daily updates. If it isn't updated frequently, I give up on checking it.

The other would be uniquely useful or entertaining content. I like humour blog, and I like news with insightful editorials. Kind of get tired of reading copied and pasted news on hundreds of blogs.

Another thing is to network. Most blogs I read I found through blogrolls of other folks. Add people to your blogroll and get on theirs.

Think about the blogs you read, and why you read them, and there is your answer. :)
