Hey, i have a new auction website that I need some help promoting. It is a general auction website. Any of you guys have any ideas? I am setting up a ppc with yahoo. I have already gotten the site optimized and entered a one way link program. Please give me more than your 2 cents. Thanks
I think a niche auction site may work. A geenral auction site is unlikely to work because most try and fail. People only seem to know one, Ebay.
The auction site is setup like ebay, but a different business model. Give me your insight on ways to promote. If you have a high traffic website let me know and provide proof.
Buy traffic on PPC networks. To be very successful, you should earn more than 50$ per user. If it is less, you will not be competive on PPC auctions and your affiliation will not work :-( What is your difference ? Will you earn more per active users than Ebay ?
You mean buy traffic on google and yahoo ppc or do you have other ppc engines in mine? I cant say anything about ebay right now, but my concept hopefully will get people to list more. Please let me know if you have any other input.
Yes, if your project is profitable, Google, Yahoo and MSN should be enough. Ebay buy 100$ millions traffic only on Adsense. You can also try Adbrite. You can have a look at http://www.auctionads.com/ and try partern with them (if your site can convert better). Try to look at markets where Ebay is not a leader. For example, in Poland no one use Ebay. Do you have some Social/Viral aspect in your project ?

Perhaps you could promote through community sites in conjunction with a sort of promotion. Such as % savings in listing fees or paying out X amount to active sellers for X amount of sales? Be creative .
Do you think advertising via banner of classifieds advertising site would work well? Do you have any community type websites that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks
