Best way to promote an online store.

    Hi,

    What is the best way to promote an online web store selling men and women fragrances. Also, I tend to do some article marketing but don't have a clue on what to write about dealing with men and women fragrances.

    There's really two different ways to promote, Paid and Free...(time)

    Paid = PPC, Media Buying
    Free = Articles, SEO etc.

    But traffic is key...

    There are plenty of different ways to promote something. You've just got to get off the internet sometimes.

    66% of people making their first-time online purchase went to the website BECAUSE they were directed there through some type of offline campaign. This is a survey I myself conducted, and there's only about a 4% margin of error.

    If you want to promote your site, then combine your online and offline methods. Don't worry about traffic, worry about sales.

    Think of it this way:

    Would you want a bunch of people to come into your store and then turn around and walk out again without buying anything? Wouldn't you rather have people walk into your store with a clear notion of why they're going there and what they want to buy?

    If you can promote your site offline, the only people who will go to your site are those people who already want something. They wouldn't be going there out of curiosity or because they mistakenly clicked on a link.

    If you were in America, I could give you some more solid advice.

    try trade directories. :D It may be new to you. add your profile in trade directories. you will get some exposure.

    You should definitely try out PPC in the short term, in the long term SEO is the main way you can get quality targetted traffic.

    The free way is to start a blog or two, you can do it easily on wordpress.com and blogger.com. You can make one about men's fragrances and the other about women's. Be sure to put keywords in your blog titles.

    Your articles can be about anything fragrance related, like what qualities make for good perfume. Or compare what a perfume is vs. cologne or eau de toilette. Anything.

    You will start to get a little bit of traffic. Then try adsense. Find competitors who have google ads on their sites and target their sites in your campaign. Also use your competitors names in keyword campaigns. This will help you get even more paid traffic at low prices.
