Best way to promote a free service?

    Its been a while since I made a new site, so I am inquiring on some good ways on promoting a free service. Can some posters give me some tips on the best ways in doing so? Many thanks in advance.

    You'll need a pretty big budget to be able to compete in that market, purely because there's so much competition in the market leaders such as YouTube, Vimeo, Google Video and Blip. IMO you should pick a target market and aim it at them (teenagers, adults, specific interests). If you capture one audience at a time then the word will spread and you could get successful :)

    free service huh?
    I thought the best ways to promote it:

    1. forum marketing. Identify which forums are really suitable to your services.
    2. site sites. such as eleance.com, craiglist.org etc.
    3. articles submission. I have no experinece in this field but you can try it!

    I agree with D-Yes.Concentrate on forum marketing, write articles and submit them to directories.This gets you back links.
