OK the description above probably doesn't help much. I was wondering how I would go about creating a map of the UK with some points on (like push pins) that when you hover over you get a pop up. It would also be handy if to create the map you could specify the name of a place and it added the mark for you? Does that makes sense? Any ideas?
Yes something like that dan. The map would basically be an outline of the uk, no need for details on it. (In fact would prefer it without any detail) Just blue coast line and green for the land. SOmthing similar to: http://www.stushak.com/images/uk_map.png But then I could add dots for certain places and have a pop up or like in your example Dan where the info at the side changes. Any clearer?
Ah, something more like this then: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=6829097#post6829097
I can make you a neat one in flash so counties etc lift up as you hover and any info you need pops ups lets me know
That would be inaccessible to search engines, people with disabilities, people who don't have the Flash plugin installed, and I'm sure dialup users (remember, I was one of those dialup users for a couple years) wouldn't have the patience to wait for that Flash file to download, especially given what appears to be something that's critical to the functionaity of the site. Just a bad idea all around in this case.
