I would like to add videogames for sale on my future website and want to know what the best approach for this will be. I myself live in the netherlands and the majority of the visitors that would be interesting in buying a game would be from the netherlands so please take this in considderation, when getting involved with affiliate programs you're basicly making less money then you could make by doing a different approach. My goal is to make a decent amount on a single sale and would very much like to know what to look for and to hear your views about this.
If your games are unique and really good, offer trials. I recently tried a poker game (2 day full trial) and it was so good, I purchased it right away. I let a few other people know and they ended up buying it too. I would have never paid upfront though, even with all the screenshots and reviews in the world.
I think we have a little misunderstanding here guys the games i want to offer are not from me but are existing console games such as playstation and xbox. I need to know what the best approach is for this kind of business exploitation, should i go with affiliates or drop shippers. Affiliates generates far less revenue then that with drop shipping is possible, but i don't know of any drop shippers in The Netherlands. What other terms are their available for drop shipping because this would make things probably easier for explaining one and other. So what affiliate programs do you guys know regarding game consoles and console games? And drop shippers that offer these kind of products?
Amazon is usually the grand daddy of games affiliates. Try signing up with them as they give good content management, stock availability and nice pretty pictures
Go affiliate to avoid all the hassle of stock, accounts, setting up aupplier agreements, getting credit limit, facing stock management, warehousing, having to send it, sorting out courier accounts (KPN is expensive!), returns, faults and all the other joys of retailing. Become a retailer yourself if you want 20-50% margin instead of 5-10% commission. There is a middleway... Find a local highstreet retailer (a brick-and-mortar shop) who doesn't sell online. Create a website for them (osCommerce is free) and agree commission between his margin and typical commission, that way you could negotiate deals like 20% per sale. You e-mail/fax him the order and he sends it. You just market it and increase his catchment area from his loaclity to Nederland-wide. So potentially from a few thousand customers to 16 million. That would make both of you happy.
Just keep in mind that video games depreciate very quickly. If you can't turn them over within a month, you risk losing money on every sale.
Yes, you guys have made some exellent points here, i'll be considdering affiliate sales only task now is finding a good affiliate for this kind of product. As of now Amazon would be a good option, anymore suggestions?
