Best way for me is to install a fresh Wordpress in your new host, then import your database from your old host to your new host and use that database. Install needed plugins and themes. :)

Moving wordpress is probably the easiest thing to do.

First thing to do is to install Wordpress at the new host. After that, log into the wordpress admin at the old host and go to the 'Manage' tab followed by the 'Export' tab. After you complete the downloading of the database, go to the new host and log into Wordpress and under the 'Manage' tab, go to 'Import' and import the file you have just exported from the old host. This will get all posts and comments over to the new site.

The next thing to do is to transfer the themes, plugins and any modifications by ftping into the old host and download the entire /wp-content folder and upload that to the new host. That should pretty much complete the process.

It is best to ensure that both the new wordpress and the old one are of the same version.

Which is the best way to export the database ?
    - cpanel mysql backup
    - wordpress inbuilt database export function
    - wordpress db backup plugin

What if its different ? While moving I also want the latest wordpress version.

Anything will do. You can use the one in phpMyAdmin or the one with Wordpress.

I think it's better if you move first then upgrade.

OR first upgrade and then move ?

Then it would be tough to find the same old version and to install it on new host.

    lol. not same.
if you upgrade first, then you can take advantage of fantastico on new host. Otherwise you have to upload old version files via ftp :D

If you do this method you may have to update your database.
    /wp-admin/upgrade.php

@dondon ... thanks for the input.
but that article is related to moving blog from wordpress.com to your own tld.

Anyway, i moved the blog successfully..

Installed(not just uploaded) the same script on a new host, dropped the new database and uploaded my database backup... everything remained same.. settings, links, plugins etc... quick.
