I have a forum which earns little money, but has good rankings. I've prepared a second Joomla site with all sorts of content, which is sitting on a placeholder domain. I've edited my forum so that vBulletin now uses the same database as Joomla, and now have a matching template so they can be integrated. Now, I am planning on moving the forum, and the Joomla onto one brand new domain. The reason is the forum was on a domain in the form www.[mytopic]forums.com, but now it is more than just forums. The URL's for my vBulletin were all in the root of the site (www.domain.com/forumindex.php). But now, the forum files will be at www.newdomain.com/forum/forumindex.php. What is the best way to not lose my rankings for the 2,000 forum pages I have indexed in google?
best way would be to do a 301 redirect using mod_rewrite to make sure everything goes over seemlessly
