Best way to monetize Directory Templates ??

I have just created a thread in the templates section about a new template that I designed for phpLD.

However I would really like to know if there are other ways to monetize a directory template apart from selling sponsored links and selling copies ??

Also what are the prices that people generally pay for a sponsored link in the footer ??

 

selling the whole template

selling the sponsored link.

 

when selling sponsored links DONT sell more then 2, if u do it either won't be used or ppl will just remove all links.

 

Selling the sponsor links and the designer link & then releasing the template for free is really the best one. also If u can find some way in which u can encrypt the footer links then that will be really awesome.

 

You might want to set a link removal price that way you may get some extra $.

Yes I know how to encrypt footer links so I can easily encrypt the footer links .

Yes thats true .. though I am going to encrypt links. Still I feel that I shouldnt make the end user unhappy so i would not sell more than 2 sponsored links.

Remember u encrypt footer link and if it becomes a mess for spiders, a smart user will never use the template as it will mess the spider view of the site totally.

 

Well not really .. spiders scan the generated html code and not the backend php code....
The generated html code is the same as a normal footer so spidering by search engines is unaffected...

 

well not the file but the codes in the file can be encrypted. Nevertheless the encryption of the file will be only if the sponsors demand it.

Well before this thread is converted into a specifically footer encryption thread ... please let me bring you on track... Encryption is not at all an important issue as it will be the personal opinion of the sponsors that will matter to me the most ... This thread is to look into how the design can be properly monetized and for sort of compiling a list of possible sponsors not only for my cause but for anyone who needs their designs to be sponsored...

Encryption Decryption and other things are irrelevant as most of the ppl who use free templates are not the ones who have that much know how about encryption and decryption ....

 

I am still looking for some sponsors for my template ... so can anyone tell me who are the ppl who normally sponsor templates... it maybe because i started the thread in the holiday season and not many ppl are around .. still if anyone knows some good sponsors please let me know ...
