Whats the best way to market a PC Gaming and Hardware Review site? I'm really having trouble getting my site off the ground.
As far as I remember back in the days when I wrote for TTZ/HOCP/TPU, and owned my own hardware review site, grabbing affiliates is a good way to start. The problem with the hardware gaming and review world is you will need to have an online presence before you start. Unlike other niches, the hardware review industry is very keen on keeping webmasters that are in for easy money and free review samples out. You will need to start building relationships with other hardware review sites, write high quality articles and reviews, and inform your affiliates of all your new content, which they will often link to on their own homepage, given that you link to their news when they send it out to you. Good luck. Hardware review sites take a while to build. Reputation is everything.
It is difficult niche to start. I have some websites in that niche. When I search using search engines for some product I search "product review" or "product specification". Some other people use the following keywords : shopping, rating, chart, guide, best, cheap, price, driver, software. And I don't think there are much traffic in other keywords. Obtaining links is a problem also. I took look at your site. I don't think you can earn much with that approach.
What kind of approach would you recommend? My domain and hosting expire in Feb. and as of now, I can't cover it from revenue (I've made $14 off of Adsense since May 06.)
