Hi, New to the forum but thought the best to answer my question was to sign up. I've made a new website focusing of consumer merchandise of other online shops. Anyway its sort of a niche but besides the point. My question: What would you say is the method to market your new site when you're on a budget. Some people say that your website won't make it unless you put thousands into marketing where others say with good content and optimized SEO traffic will find you... So from different types of marketing which would you say to focus on mainly? I have a facebook and twitter page. i'm starting a emailing list off by competition/giveaways I also tried facebook marketing but found it to be a dead end. I will be focusing on SEO anyway as heard its a must So all replies welcome! Thanks
I'd suggest trying craigslist, backpage, olx, classifiedads and some other classifieds. It takes time posting ads, but you can gain some following from classifieds for sure. AdWords is, of course, a real deal when comes to taking a site off the ground. You can limit how much you want to spend so that you'd not end up spending thousands. AdCenter may not give you the same amount of traffic, but it is still a cheaper way of advertising (in comparison to AdWords). Twitter can be an excellent medium for advertising. You may want to post 20-30 times a day using a different variety of ads with # hashtags. This way, your ads will be more easily found in Twitter searches. Having your own affiliate program can bring in a ton of traffic, if you offer enough incentive for people to spread the word around about your site. Most importantly, you have to have a great looking, easy to navigate site that offers great products and / or quality services.
Hey Scott! Nah. You don't need thousands of dollars to have a bangin' online presence and solid brand identity. The baseline to work from is solid, quality content. Going up from there is a breeze when you don't have to worry about even the most fancy schmancy marketing efforts going down the drain the moment people visit your site, only to leave being underwhelmed and mentally ticking you off their list. Facebook and Twitter are free ways to get around. - Share interesting and relevant content that your consumers will care about, and make an effort to share it on their own. Don't make your Facebook page solely all about your products alone. Interesting articles, funny memes and memorable quotes are far more "share-worthy", and it will get your brand name out there for people to link back to what you're selling. - Follow people who share the same interests, or who would be interested in what you're selling, on Twitter. Some sites have a following strategy of following first, getting followed back, and then unfollowing. For instance, if i had an online store selling MMA apparel, i'd search for users who tweeted about key terms like "mma", "muay thai", "one fc" etc, and follow them. I'd also follow fitness trainers, amateur and professional fighters. Some will follow back, some won't. Depends on the content you put out - whether it's interesting enough for them to follow you back. - After following key players (in the example above, trainers or fighters), don't be afraid to engage in meaningful conversations with them on Twitter. Fans following them will see your conversations and they might check you out and follow you as well. Think along the lines of ordinary fan seeing Renzo Gracie retweet Brand A's tweet -> "omg what is this brand it must be awesome since Renzo Gracie virtually endorsed it himself" -> *favourite* *retweet* *follow* - Immerse yourself in the "hot spots" of where your consumers lurk. In this case? MMA forums. MMA apparel review blogs. Facebook groups. Fighter fan pages. Get your brand name out there for better brand recall. There's tons of things you can do with just social media alone, without paying for ads or marketing campaigns. Be creative and let it fly!
There are some other ways to bring traffic to your site: 1. forum posting: find the related topic about your product and answer them, you can also target several important forums and participate in it and become a thought leader of your industry 2.guest posting: list some blogs about your industry or product which also accept guest blogs and post guest blog. The article need to be high quality. 3.Email marketing: collect the email list of your potential customers and send them emails related to your product or special offers. If you have a large email base, you can choose a email marketing service provider to finish it, such as Comm100 Email Marketing. 4.Social media marketing: facebook, linkedin, twitter, google+. you can choose two or more based on your product and industry. Google+ is becoming more and more popular and it may effect your keyword rank, you should not ignore it.
