I am working with this new company that has made a really interesting product which is a significant upgrade on the media players out there....we are trying a few different things (alliances with social networks, talking to indie bands, buying traffic etc.) to market this thing....I was wondering if some of you have ideas on how to push this thing for low cost or even free? It's not public yet, but in case you are interested, here's the beta download link.... http://www.mxplay.com/mxplay/intro/Smoviewalah
It's going to be tough to get people to enter their email to download and install an application with such limited information about the product. What makes it so revolutionary? It could be a terrific product, but how do I know?
Yeah, the information is fairly limited. As previously mentioned; sites like download.com should help you, it might even be worthwhile paying to be a featured download at some point. Colm
You should let your visitors donwload you beta only on http://www.betanews.com It will easier to be on top10 media player on betanews than download.com
Thanks for the information.....yeah I agree the download page has little information.... Here are some of the things that it can do.... 1. Allows you to browse for online music and automatically adds them to your playlist ( don't need to download any song so its free of all the piracy stuff) 2. You can hear the music in 3D - meaning you can dynamically change where the speakers are or the size of virtual room you are in and it automatically saves those settings....along these lines you can remix the song with your sound effects. 3. Mashups - superimpose songs, videos ( while you are listening to a song, use the inbuilt browser to search for online videos and once its playing it'll ask you whether you want to capture it and once you say yes, the video is mashed up on the song....which you can save and share with anyone online) 4. Create and share playlists as flash or html widgets There are other smaller features and we are constantly adding new stuff based on user feedback.... would be interested to know if someone here has tried it and what they think....positive, negative any kind of feedback will be very helpful.... Thanks
Try emailing some of the tech publications and news sites, see if they'll run a feature article on your player. If it's actually good, a lot of publications would be more than happy to run a small feature on it.
