Best Way To Let My Cusomters Download 3GB of Data?

    Hi,

I didn't know where else to put this, so I though I'd put it in General Chat, hope you don't mind ;)

Here's my problem... I want to sell some content time and time again, but its 3GB. So, obviously, its going to be very large if I have a lot of people buying it.

Would it be best for me to sign up to a rapid share premium account (the files are split into 5 sections, each 600mb each) or is there a better way?

Thanks for your help, Will :)

You could .zip or .tar.gz it, making it smaller, and upload it to rapidshare, or your own hosting.

    What is the content?

It might be cheaper to ship out a DVD. Customers/clients might be willing to pay a little more for a real world item - which would cover your media/burning costs.

Its actually a collection of 9000 flash games, non-exclusive, which I have the rights to sell.

If you're selling them to end users (and not resellers), then double the price and put 'em on a DVD and ship them with a nice cover etc...

Go for both download and dvd version.

Not all people have speedy internet connection and not all people willing to wait for the DVD to arrive.

For download version you can charge at a cheaper price. But do let your customer know where the file will be hosted first, and sell the DVD version with a nice packaging at a higher price.

You can try the torrent option. Upload the torrent file to your site and when a member buys it they get the link. You are initially hosting the torrent file yourself but after a few members buy the file they may be able to seed the torrent as well relieving you of the whole job.

Best way to do is to split them into multiple files and upload it at different places rather than putting all at one place making it tough on the server as well as the downloader.. Try to give away a few review copies and then get the feedback and testimonials to use them for your site which might just help.

If you want to sell your content, then putting out a torrent probably won't work. 9000 flash games will end up on the torrent search sites pretty fkn fast, and you'll be making $zero from everyone who downloads it :(

    Bravo!

Yeah so torrent might be out then :p

Ok, so a few download servers with it split up between them. Sounds good.

And yes, I was planning to give a few review copies out first to give a bit of confidence to other people as to their quality.
