best way to learn php, top php books to buy?

    If you know how to code in C++ then you should directly download the PHP manual from the official site.

    If your web programming basics are not clear then you should refer to:
    Murach's PHP and MySQL by Joel Murach and Ray Harris

    Or if you are a visual learner then you can also buy video tutorials from lynda.com

    sams teach yourself php in 24hrs is really good to give a quick start. I started from that book too as I am also a self taught programmer :)
