Hello, Let me know the best reference to learn joomla. I want to learn joomla fast since requirement is to complete project in it. Thanks in advance.
I suggest just jumping straight in and working with one of the pre-installed templates or downloading a new free one to get used to the way articles, modules and plugins can work. After a few hours of practice and finding out how they all link together and whats available on the web, I think you'll be able to start your project properly and get a good result. If you need resources for help then I've found that forums are the best way to go and DigitalPoint is full of useful content.
there are joomla tutorials in lynda.com but I think they only have lessons on how to use joomla as a user not as a developer.
Thanks, now i don't know the difference between joomla 1.5 vs joomla 1.6, which one is better and easy to work with?
I would get started in 1.6. Most of the Components and Modules are releasing updates to support that. Try youtube theres heaps of videos on there to help get you started. Hope that helps MB
I agree with George the best way I find is to jump straight in and have a play if anything goes wrong it's easy enough to correct, let us know how you get on
if You Are really beginners on Joomla You should learn First 1.5 versions,it is some easier to learn and try latest version later. To Become expert on Joomla You should Have Done practice On Yours Local Server!Learn from YouTube,Forums,Joomla Forums,Using Google....There are a lots of learning materials on Internet search them and learn. Be happy with Joomla
Just had a thought if you install joomla you can upload sample data that shows you how it works on a basic level, if you get stuck just post a question there are enough users to help you out
