well, I'm getting a small CMS made and I was wondering, what is the better way for having my urls. For a 'bleach' episode, lets say episode 1, would : mysite.com/bleach/01 be a good way to structure the url or would mysite.com/bleach/episode01.html be a better way to structure the URL ? Please advice me, I have no idea which format would be better
Do you think people will search for it more as "Bleach 01", "Bleach episode 1", or "Bleach The Day I Became a Shinigami"? If the first or second then I would recommend example.com/bleach/episode-01.html (use a hyphen to separate words "episode" and "01"). If the third then I would recommend example.com/bleach/the-day-i-became-a shinigami.html (i.e. use the episode name). Either way it's not going to make a huge difference. The <title> and <h1> will carry FAR more weight in how it ranks than the keywords in the URL. Keyword rich URLs are a minor ranking factor, and are more of a fine tuning SEO tactic than a "big win" kind of tactic.
filma I like this new option. I don't think many people would know the specific name for an episode though. So the name of the episode might be diluting the word 'episode' a bit. Then again those keywords could add some good long tail traffic. So I think you should go ahead with this structure. You probably should put the season number somewhere in the url as well.... example.com/bleach/season-1/episode-01-....html
