Hey guys, I have reading the CJ forum in here for awhile. I try to do a little affiliate work on my main site, but I have only received a few clicks with no sales. I was thinking about starting a new site to be just for selling items using CJ (Still thinking of a niche). I would probably drive traffic to the site using Adwords. Anyway, I just want to try it out, and if I can make a sell or two quickly I would invest much more time. So keeping in mind that I just want to try it out, does anyone have any good suggestions for kicking out a quick site to test maybe popshops? I would thinking just use drupal, and use a free template. That way I could kick a site off in like a week to play around with it. If it proves more lucrative than my adsense site, I plan on designing and developing a site around popshops. You can probably tell from reading this that this is my first time getting into this. I'm just looking for a little direction. Is there no way to pop a quick test site out that I could play with? Or do I need to invest a month worth of work just to find out that it is something that I don't want to do? Thanks for any advice guys.
I would say you're thinking in the right direction.. but spend less time thinking.. and more time doing. I would create a few sites.. find what niches perform well (by your own experience and with your own results!). I would try eBay store fronts.. popshops, etc. You're not going to get it right without taking the initial lumps. Also analyze why you're not getting sales. Are you catering to 'readers' or 'buyers'? I wrote about this here. Is it a issue with traffic or quality of traffic? Traffic is the the flip side of creating niche stores... can't have one without the other. I would also stay away from AdWords until you know what you're doing. That means two separate things.. know what you're doing involves.. knowing how to create effective campaigns and understanding keywords.. and most importantly knowing you have a site that converts and provides a profit from your PPC costs. I would look to Yahoo YSM to start out with. I almost do all of my PPC with them now.. much kinder on the wallet and I get good conversions. Here is a post I wrote about using YSM/PPC with eBay affiliate store fronts. Good luck! hanji
I have a pretty good understandign about PPC campaigns, as I run the campaign for my current employer at my "real" job. I am not so worried about that as much as I am the starting point. For example, I have an ebay affiliate account in CJ. Since I am new with the whole affiliate marketing division of the web, would it benefit me more starting with a product like BANS?
Hey Dadougalee, I'm just getting started with this stuff too! If you ever want to talk or discuss ideas send me a pm!
I have a free eBook about what I do to make money on Commission Junction http://www.videoblogtraining.info/TriangleMarketing.pdf Just download it. I also have a couple of other eBook on PopShops and Bans available for a small fee. These eBooks include a membership to my training site with over 40 videos. Good Luck
The more I look at it, the more BANS look interesting to me. It seems like once you do the one time payment you can start pumping out website whenever you think of a niche. Can anyone offer any advice for me and NeilT just starting out?
