You can get the site Crawled by Spiders (who will Index ur site on google/yahoo/..) if you submit it to Social Bookmarking Sites like (Digg,StumbleUpon, etc.) and to have a better ranking for your keyword, you will need to Build Backlinks to your Site, by submitting it to Link Directories or exchange Links with related sites (You can also pay People to submit your site for you)

Also Check Googles Keyword Tool to see what keywords to aim for, if you found the right keywords make sure to have it in your title, description and possibly in your URL, also make sure to have a nice keyword density on your content

find websites crawled by Google, i.e. this forum or search engine friendly directories and get your link in them. Also, adding a wordpress blog to your site will help you generate unique content (as long as youre writing it) and dynamically update so that Google finds it fast.

 

You will get your site on google and yahoo searh page by posting your post links at digg, twitter, reddit and other social bookmarking sites.

I think the best way is to submit to them directly. It also helps if you can aid with a few backlinks (from possibly social bookmarking sites etc). Further, if your website has good content and a decent amount of pages you will get into google instantly.

 

The best way to get indexed in one of the major search engines is to get a back link from a highly indexed site. One website that you can do this on is Ezine articles where it's indexed daily.
You could also submit your website to the search engines, however getting a high quality back link is much better.
