Is this possible with a health related site?

If so what is the fastest and best way with little cost (lol, I know holy grail) to get this done?

I appreciate this input, thanks very much.

Of I forget to mention, the site is listed in Google for a term which has 26,000,000 results at number 157 and is only 1 month old. Not listed in MSN, Yahoo etc.. yet.

Site runs on WP and is aimed directly at a specific niche within the health market.

Of course it's possible. It will be extremely hard though, but I managed to get my site up to PR4 in a little under 2 months myself. Hoping to go to PR5 within 3-4 months time. It's all about the number of links - and their authority.

My blog got up to a PR7 for some time. I was working on three open source software projects support forums answering every question that I could, making suggestions and the like. I was doing it inbetween answering support projects and programming.

Took a few months but I got up there.

Should be possible, just comment on lots of articles. Popular blogs and news outlets would probably be best, but even adding a comment with your blog's link to smaller sites will help with backlinks and PR. Best of luck!

You can get good results from the standard low budget do-it-yourself promotion such as comments with links on dofollow blog, social bookmarking promotion and article submissions with links. If you are looking for faster results you would need amazing content that inspires natural link building from the public, which Google is built around.

Another option I've heard works is to generate some "buzz" for your site. If you can come up with an angle that makes your site newsworthy or blog-worthy, then you could have some high PR links as other sites report on yours.

from my experience it tends to be less about the links these days. i think it's about how much you care for your website - how often you update it in particuarly. i think if you update it daily with useful content, you can easily make pr5 in 6 months.

Very useful thread for a beginner like me. Thanks. Is there any advantage of posting comments blogs/forums that have PR lower than the PR of your own blog? (Other than traffic?)

Networking with the owner of the blog / people who read comments, or actually putting in useful information in the comment section to become an active member of the blog. The backlinks are just an added bonus, comments are really there to be a part of the blogging community and network with others.

Impossible is nothing. That's achievable, but you need to allot TONS of time in building quality links for the site. You should hire a team of linkbuilders to promote the site and boost its pagerank. That of course involves money, lots of money.

You can achieve that if you just made the right thing.
You just focus fist getting the lower PR then you
do the regular updates and SEO then there you'll probably get the PR
    that you've always wanted.

Hire a team of link builders? Why not just create content that's worth linking to and promoting your site effectively?

It's cheaper, easier, and more reliable.

Anyway, of course it's possible to get a high page rank in a short span of time. But PR is really useless, unless you're trying to impress someone, or earn some bragging rights. As I said above, spend your time generating quality content for your site, and working on promoting it. The links will come naturally.

Simple question - what do you hope to gain by achieving this high PR?

You could have a PR 1 million site and still have not visitors, or have traffci but not convert that traffic.

The single biggest mistake people make when launching a website is to get obsessed about PR. Its meaningless. Concentrate on getting quality, relevant traffic and converting it once they hit your site. You can do that with a PR0!

Get yourself relevant one way backlinks with good keyword anchor text. A much better use of your time and effort than farting around with PR.

You should either create an absolutely great website that people would like to link a lot or buy high PR backlinks from authority sites.
I don't see how this could be achieved with a limited budget. PR5-6 is not as easy to obtain as it used to be a few years ago.
