Adsense and other networks will put up political ads because it's contextual advertizing. Amazon book links are good also, political best sellers. Just research your market, age, sex, buying prefs, etc. and post appropriate ads
If you trying to find some private advertiser then your blog should have some good and decent amount of traffic (around 10K per day) otherwise Google Adsense is the best way to go for.
