Best way to gain backlinks

Hi, I am looking for the best way to gain backlinks. I see many people offering, hundreds or even thousands of backlinks for very reasonable prices. And I am very tempted, but the thing that is stopping me is if my links suddenly appears on hundred or even thousands of blogs/directories, surely that's gotta be bad?

I mean it's gotta look suss, but yet I see so many of these packages flying out the door.

I also thought of paying someone to submit to the directories (I have submitted to loads myself so far) but it is just taking up too much of my time, but again how do you truly know that that person is actually going to do it manually and over a period of time, not all in one go.

After all I obviously don't want all my hard work so far to go down the drain, by being penalised

I really could do with some advise on this :)

Also if you have used anyone offering either of these services, and would highly recommend them please PM me and let me know.

    Thanks :)

    Dee

You are right. If you increase links for your website at a fast pace, then Google may take them in a negative way. They should increase gradually..

Well......I will suggest you to do not go for paid links as it is violation of webmaster guidelines and if Google detects paid link for your site then it may harm a lot to your site......Try to get link through directoy submissions article, press release, blogging social bookmarking , social networking, rss submission, posting comments on blog posts and forums.........etc.......but keep on continue getting links for your site.....

The rate at which you submit your site to directories doesn't matter so much. The reason is that first the directories don't include your link immediately, it can take up to 2 months to have them included and then Google doesn't crawl the directories immediately either. So when you factor all that, even if you submitted your site to 1000 directories in one day all the links will be crawled by Google over a period of several months.

As for manual vs. automated directory submission, it depends on the software you use because most of them will submit your site to a general category which can affect your approval rate.

Every process are important, still if you want back links in short time, forum posting is best, and for long term dir. submissions as quality links.

By my experience, find a submission service that does X amount of submissions and can gradually do them over the course of 30 days. I've had good luck with this. Also manual submissions are the way to go.

Building backlinks is an ongoing process you can build backlinks through article submissions, directory submissions,
press release distribution, and blog postings. You should try to get backlinks from different sources.

Hi, thanks for all the information :)

Okay I will do the directory submissions by hand.

    I have a few more questions :)

So if you buy links on say 100 blogs, Google can tell that you have paid for these links?

Also I have submissed to so may different directories already that, I'm getting confused ;)

Does anyone has a list of directories that they solely use for link building? and how many do you submit to in a day (again I have read mixed opinions on this).

Also how would you suggest finding places to write free articles, free press releases, I have tried searching G for travel blogs uk etc, but it doesn't really bring up anything.

Also is there a lot of point doing reciprocal link exchange, I have had good results with it in the past but have now been let to believe these don't really count, as one cancels out the other.

    Thanks Loads

Google can not see that you paid for the links, just make sure you are not buying links on a bad website or something like that.

I always submit my articles usually to ezine and a few others. There are multiple posts about different articles sites so I would have a look around.

I have personally recently written an article on link building and linking strategies which could well be of use to.
If you have a moment have a read.
Hope it is of use for you.

The best way to get backlinks is to have great content so people would like to link to your site.
    One word - linkbait ;)

Thanks :) well I will not be paying for any links, I am just going to keep doing it all myself. I have posted on Ezine , can anyone recommend any other good article sites and press release sites?

Also I am confused some say when it comes to directory submissions do it slowly others say (like beyondelectricdreams) that it doesn't really matter how many you submit to each day because they all approve at different rates, what is the TRUTH?

Taking into account I am doing this all manually so it's not like I can submit to hundreds a day :)

    Thanks

Don't be too hasty. Submit an article every other day to Ezinearticles.com and you'll slowly increase in good quality links (with high ranking on SERPs). Also directory submission; but this tends to be very limited in success.

    Then there's just buying links.
