Hi, what's the best way to draw traffic to a newly developed blog? Would it make any sense to advertise thru google key words? Search engine submission? Forums? Other bloggers? Thanx in advance.

The best way is to add good content on a regular basis and advertise as you would any other site. It would depend on your budget but I would start with links on related topic sites. You can also announce it in forums where that allows you to do so.

If you mean AdWords then yes, that's undoubtedly the quickest way of getting traffic to your site but it'll cost you money. A better (cheaper) route is to keep writing good content, submit to directories and link exchanges and be patient. If you keep writing quality unique content then the search engines will find you.

comment on other similar blogs with worthwhile information... this will lead to one way or blogroll exchanges which will give a little traffic but help a lot with the search engines finding your site

Perhaps you'd care to check out the DP thread I initiated a day ago about exactly same subject. The thread is called "Question about Traffic", six rows below your thread in the thread list in this very same section.

There's the general advice like good content and search engine optimization but you also have to consider your niche. Certain niches respond better to particular avenues. For example, I run a guitar related blog - not guitar hero but actual guitars. :) For me, expecting a great deal of traffic from technology-oriented social networking sites like Digg is unrealistic. However, there are a number of guitar related forums that are great opportunities for a blog like mine.

I think the same holds true for any niche. Stay focused on potential sources that are related to your niche. Don't waste a bunch of time on unfocused efforts.

That said, once you've done your work in focused efforts, it doesn't hurt to try some less focused efforts. There may be an untapped potential there.

    Regards,

    Robert

I recommend posting frequently. The more content you have indexed the more traffic you will recieve. While building your content links to your blog should also be built. You can use your blogs RSS feed and submit it to feed directories. That will usually generate a lot of links. Another way to get both links and direct traffic is posting in forums.

In my first blog I used to make long post that I kept editing and had lots of tags this is the worst way to post. Also keep tags to a minimum unless necessery. Also have lots of links that can help, and make your post diffrent if you sourced data either rewrite it or say where you sourced it from.

The best way to draw traffic to a new blog is to participate in the blogger forum and ask for a related link exchange partners. Update your content and submit to social bookmarking site like digg.
