    So lets say I have a site about a car dealer. If the name of the business is widgit brand and the business is in a certain city so you might use the keywords city brand as well as the actual name of the dealer how would you do your meta tags for best SEO? I've been using

    Title = Name Brand
    Description = Name Brand City Brand Dealer State
    Keywords = Name Brand,city,dealer,state

    Should I be doing

    Title = Name Brand City State
    Description = Name Brand City State Dealer
    Keywords = Name Brand,City,Dealer,State

    Thanks for your advice.

    As of my own experience, it helps alot if you have city, state and may be (actually depends on type of your business) zip code in titles of pages. It really does work.

    However I'd sugest to use descriptions, that make more sence for people, than for search engines, because description is one of the factors that makes person to click on your result.

    IMHO, Forget meta tags, It has been proved that if content of the site is good enuff, google will pick up the relevant snippet from the content only.

    Moreover, it has been seen that Keywords tag is obsolete now, Description is OK, if u wanna include that, Specify in brief your USP in that within the 156 character limits.

    If by "Name Brand" you mean something like "Yugo", I would not suggest using it as your sole title tag term. Even if you rank well for "Name Brand City Dealer", just the Name Brand as your title will not be very attractive to people.

    I would suggest using a couple more keywords in your title tag to attract the traffic once you're in the SERPs. (I.e, State Brand Dealer, Brand City Dealer).
