Best Way to Develop Links

I'm looking for good ideas on how to develop links for my new site:

It's interesting because it allows others to do self-promotion easily, but I'm not quite sure how I should approach building links to my site.

directory submissions, social bookmarkings, link trades with other site that has the same niche as your site, forum postings, and there are a lot more ways to build links for your site

Actually I am against this paid reviews in other blogs.... better try submittin gur links in dir. and in dofollow blogs to start with.....
