    Hi all

I just wondered what the correct way to deal with changing over a website to a new one is. There is an old website with with industry relevant ranking search terms that we would like to redirect to the new site that has a completely different domain name. Whats the best way of dealing with it ? I guess you its not just a case of forwarding the domain name to the new one is it ? we would like to try and transfer the pagerank juice.

    Thanks for the advice.

Depending upon what kind of server your site is on, if it's a linux/unix - then use the .htaccess file to do a 301 permanent redirect from each of the old pages - to the best page on the new site.

This has always worked very well for me.

First though, you have to be certain that moving the site really is the best thing to do!
