I'm thinking about selling a piece of software I developed, what is the best way to advertise offline?
I think this depands on how much u have to speand on advertising. I would get some business cards and flyers and posters made up and start from there
Offline advertising can be expensive. Why wouldn't you focus on online advertising where cost can be zero until a sale is made?
Well you can try giving out free t-shirts at a tech convention, along with other cheap freebies like key chains etc.
It might depend on the software.. what is it about? Is it completely unique? And would it be useful for the general public?
Do you have a mechanism for selling offline? The market research shows that offline marketing is very poor at getting people to respond by going online. Other than that it depends on who your target market is. If it is a niche product, say for classic car owners, then generally publications for the same niche will give you a better return on investment. Regional specific then you have options of flyers through doors - I dont know where you are but in the UK most places have free local newspapers put through the door and it is normally fairly cheap for them to insert your flyer into the papers compared to the cost of other mechanisms for distribution.
