My tech blog is getting around 800 unique visitors per day. But I make very little (and sometimes no) money daily from AdSense. Any ideas of what would be a better way to monetize the traffic? Is there any advertising that would be more appealing?
Here is what I learned in the forum in my SIG. 1) Create a free guide with the information your visitors are looking for. 2) Have them opt in to a list to get the guide. 3) Put affiliate links at the end of the guide as recommended resources. I am working on doing that now in a different niche.
I couldn't find the free guides on your site but that's ok. First, no one should have access to them unless they have opted in to your mailing list! The guides should be in PDF format with, like I said above, your affiliate links to recommended products. Now, you know your audience better than anyone. What are their hot buttons. What problem are you going to solve for them or help them with in the guide?
All my 'free guides' are solutions to web programming problems I think users would sooner just perform another google search before committing to membership on my site
D*gg is a great place to target to tech audience. Add social networking / bookmarking buttons to your site.
Techies are lees likely to click on ads than most other user groups. However, many tech sites and blogs still do very well on adsense. How is your placement?
Try to get relevant affiliate links. You may have to spend some time searching for them, but the income can be good.
first get a list together you can place and optin list on your blog depending on how you do this. then once you have a list together ask them what they want and then make a viral free report for them to download and spread to friends and neighbourrs then watch your traffic increase big time, the more useful the information the better traffic you will get. then watch as your adsense skyrockets through the roof.
your site's very pretty. you might want to try either one of two things: 1) place the ads inside the posts. when i first arrive at your site, my eye automatically went to the post title, skipping completely the ads above it. 2) make color contrast instead of blending. i'd go with number 1 though.
On individual posts I actually do place ads inside the posts. I think I may try the contrasting colors, see if that has any effect
...also unlikely to opt-in to something for a little tutorial...it'd have to be a pretty amazing one for them to fall into that...they know the drill already
